What is this?
[community profile] noraidsauction is a fandom charity auction in the style of [community profile] equalityauction, Fandom Trumps Hate, and countless others. Fans offer works they can create to be bid on, the winning bidder makes a donation to charity and receives the work.

[community profile] noraidsauction is seeking to raise money to benefit community organisations supporting migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in the UK and Scotland. After the events of the Kenmure Street raid and community action to rescue the men taken, we want to support the organisations building community support and resilience, resisting the hostile environment, and helping migrants and refugees.

Who are we fundraising for?

We are directing this fundraiser towards The Unity Centre in Glasgow. They take no government funding, coordinate anti-raids activism and give practical support and solidarity to all asylum seekers and other migrants in Scotland.

We would also recommend:
Scottish Detainee Visitors visiting and assisting those in detention centres
Safe In Scotland a shelter for those experiencing asylum-related destitution
(London-based) The Unity Project provides support to people with No Recourse to Public Funds and recently won a landmark case protecting the rights of children with parents who have No Recourse to Public Funds
Lesbians and Gays Support the Migrants fund for Lesvos LGBTIQ+ Refugee Solidarity
Refuwegee organise welcome packs for forcibly displaced people in Glasgow and Scotland
Unity Sisters a collective of women with experience of the immigration system acting as a support group for asylum-seeking women, refugees and their children.
Scottish Refugee Council
Bail For Immigration Detainees provide legal advice and representation to detained migrants to help them secure release, alongside policy advocacy to challenge immigration detention.

Please feel free to suggest additional community organisations involved in resisting the UK's Hostile Environment in the comments. We are most interested in small organisations building solidarity and working with migrants.

Some Additional Guidelines & Information:

No physical items allowed. Many postal systems are still beleaguered by COVID-19 and any shipping right now, especially international, is iffy.

All participants in this auction must be 18 or older. As such, there are no restrictions on offering explicit content.

Moderators reserve the right to remove any auction for any reason.

Harassment of any participant will not be tolerated.

For ease of language, "work" and "item" may be used interchangeably to refer to whatever is being offered, be it fanfiction, podfic, x-picking, beta services, fanart, etc.

Timing on delivery of item(s) won is between creator and winner. Please make sure, both as a creator and a bidder/winner, that you are contactable, either with a fandom email address or dreamwidth messages.

There is no limit on the number of items a single creator can offer, but please be practical.

Participation is limited to creators, buyers, and bidders with Dreamwidth accounts. Dreamwidth accounts are free to create. (A confirmed OpenID account is a Dreamwidth account.)

Prices should be listed in £GBP, bidding increments should be no less than £1GBP.

How It Works:

For one week, creators offer items for either auction or as "Buy-It-Now". Once that week ends, bidding (or Buying) begins. For "Buy-It-Now" items, the creator has set a price and the first person to agree to that price wins. (Note: Creators may, for example, offer three identical items for the first three buyers.) For auctions, bidding is done by commenting to the auction listing. The next bidder replies to the high bid with their own, higher bid. At the end, the highest bidder wins the item.

Donations can be made immediately upon confirmation of either winning a Buy-It-Now or auction. (Instructions for confirmation will be updated in the near future.)

This post may be updated at any time with additional information.

The comments on this post are screened. Please ask any questions here. We will post frequent answers in the body of this post.

Questions answered:

Can donors donate to any of the organisations listed, or just The Unity Centre?
Donors can donate to any of the listed organisations! We're specifically highlighting The Unity Centre as a particular organisation that benefits from individual donations, but we wanted to give people a range of options, including women-led organisations like Unity Sisters, or registered charities like Refuweegee.

We will be confirming donations in a screened comments post like this one, and will be confirming donations to any of the listed organisations. If you have an organisation with similar goals that you're passionate about, let us know and we'll look at adding it to the list.

Will you have a requests post?
We want to give offerers as much control as possible, so we won't be doing a requests post, but lots of offers are fandom-neutral or willing to do any fandom. If you have questions, please reach out to offerers within the guidelines they give in their offers.
